Flying with IQOS: What You Need to Know
Last updated: 22 August 2024
When planning to take your IQOS device on a plane, it's important to consider a few key factors. This guide provides general tips for traveling with IQOS, but you should always verify the specific regulations with your airline or country of destination before your flight.
Most airlines prohibit packing heated tobacco devices in checked luggage due to safety concerns. Instead, you may be required to carry your IQOS in your hand luggage. Generally, you might be allowed to bring up to four heated tobacco devices in your carry-on, however we suggest you check with local market regulations.
Bringing HEETS or TEREA on Board: When it comes to HEETS and TEREA, you may be permitted to carry up to 10 packs of sticks per person on a plane. However, it’s wise to confirm this with your airline beforehand. They can also provide guidance on the quantities of heated tobacco products allowed, depending on border control regulations. Keep in mind that HEETS are compatible with specific devices, like the IQOS 3 DUO and earlier models. For the IQOS ILUMA series, only TEREA sticks can be used.
Before heading to the airport, it's also helpful to know if you need to declare your IQOS device and related products at security. You might be asked to present them separately during screening or even power on the device to demonstrate that it’s operational.
